# terms of use — zaptipr _Last updated: may 19, 2026_ These terms govern your use of Zaptipr. Zaptipr is a product of Bitcoiner Talent, Inc., a Delaware corporation. We refer to ourselves below as "Zaptipr" or "we". By installing Zaptipr in a Slack workspace, or by using it as a member of a workspace where it has been installed, you agree to these terms. ## what zaptipr is Zaptipr is a Slack application that lets members of a Slack workspace send small bitcoin payments ("zaps") to each other over the Lightning Network. We are non-custodial: Zaptipr never holds, receives, or controls user funds. Bitcoin moves directly from the sender's wallet to the recipient's wallet. Our role is limited to looking up the recipient's lightning address, fetching a payment invoice from their wallet provider, and showing it to the sender. We are not a custodial wallet, a money transmitter, a bitcoin exchange, or part of Slack. We are an independent third-party Slack app, installed by your workspace admin. ## who can use zaptipr You must be at least 16 years old (or the minimum age required by your jurisdiction or by Slack, whichever is higher) to use Zaptipr. You must use Zaptipr only in a Slack workspace where it has been installed by an authorised admin. You also need a Lightning wallet of your own to receive (and optionally send) zaps. You bring your own wallet. Zaptipr does not provide one. ## installing and using zaptipr A workspace admin installs Zaptipr from the Slack App Directory. By installing, the admin: - grants Zaptipr the OAuth scopes described in our privacy policy - agrees to these terms on behalf of the workspace - becomes the initial billing-owner contact (this can be changed later) Workspace members can use Zaptipr's slash commands (/zap, /zapwallet, /zaphistory, /zapbilling, /zaphelp) without granting any additional permissions. Their use of Zaptipr is governed by these terms. We request the minimum Slack permissions needed for shipped features. If we introduce new features that require additional Slack permissions — for example, future reaction-triggered flows that need to read message content — your workspace will see a separate Slack re-authorization prompt at that time, and the new feature won't operate until an admin accepts it. ## pricing and billing Zaptipr charges $1 USD per active workspace member per month. New workspaces get a 14-day free trial, no credit card required. After the trial, the workspace's billing owner can purchase 1, 3, 6, or 12 months of access at a time. Multi-month packages include discounts. Subscription payments are processed by Zaprite, a third-party payment processor that accepts both credit cards and bitcoin. The amount is calculated by multiplying $1 by your active member count at the time of purchase, then by the package length you choose. End users (individual workspace members sending zaps) are not charged by Zaptipr. Senders pay only the bitcoin amount they choose to send, plus standard Lightning Network routing fees that go to independent routing nodes, not to Zaptipr. ## refunds Subscription fees are paid in advance. Once a paid period begins, fees for that period are non-refundable, except where required by law. The 14-day free trial is your evaluation window: use it to confirm Zaptipr is right for your workspace before committing. Where consumer protection law in your jurisdiction (for example, EU and UK consumer rights) grants you a statutory cooling-off period or other refund right, we will honour it. Bitcoin payments themselves are technically irreversible. We have no ability to reverse, refund, or recover a bitcoin payment once your wallet has authorised it. For billing questions or disputes, please contact us at hello@zaptipr.com first. Chargebacks against the underlying card or bitcoin payment will be handled per Zaprite's processor terms. ## acceptable use You agree to use Zaptipr only for legitimate workplace appreciation, recognition, and tipping purposes. You agree not to use Zaptipr to: - facilitate payments for illegal goods or services - launder money or finance terrorism - evade economic sanctions - harass, defame, or threaten anyone through zap messages - reverse engineer, scrape, or overload the service - use Zaptipr in jurisdictions where bitcoin or Lightning Network usage is prohibited We can suspend or terminate access for any workspace we reasonably believe is violating these prohibitions. ## bitcoin and lightning disclaimers Read these carefully. Bitcoin and the Lightning Network behave differently from traditional payment rails. - **non-custodial.** Zaptipr never holds, custodies, or controls your funds. Bitcoin moves directly between sender and recipient wallets. We cannot pause, reverse, refund, or recover any payment once it has been initiated. - **volatility.** Bitcoin's value fluctuates. The fiat-equivalent value of a zap when sent may differ significantly from its value at any later point. We do not guarantee any conversion rate. - **irreversibility.** Lightning Network payments are technically irreversible. There is no chargeback mechanism. You are solely responsible for verifying the recipient and amount before authorising a payment in your own wallet. - **third-party wallet risk.** You choose your own Lightning wallet provider. We make no warranty about the security, reliability, fees, custody posture, or availability of any wallet provider. If your chosen wallet provider has downtime, loses funds, or shuts down, we have no recourse and bear no liability. - **routing fees.** Lightning payments may incur routing fees paid to independent routing nodes. These fees are determined by the network at the time of payment and are not collected by, controlled by, or paid to Zaptipr. - **regulatory uncertainty.** Bitcoin and Lightning operate in an evolving regulatory landscape. You are responsible for understanding and complying with the laws of your jurisdiction, including any tax obligations arising from sending or receiving bitcoin. ## service availability and warranty Zaptipr is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not currently commit to a specific uptime SLA. We will notify you in advance if we add one. ## limitation of liability To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to Zaptipr is limited to the fees you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages. We are not liable for losses arising from: - third-party Lightning wallet failures - bitcoin price volatility - Lightning Network routing failures - Slack platform outages - regulatory changes - your error in authorising payments - force majeure events ## termination You can uninstall Zaptipr from your Slack workspace at any time. We can terminate or suspend a workspace's access for material breach of these terms, with notice where reasonably possible. When access ends: - your Slack bot token is immediately revoked - your workspace is hidden from live queries (soft delete) and your data is hard-deleted 30 days later - if you re-install within the 30-day window, your data is restored - you may request an export of your zap history and billing records before the 30-day window closes We do not retain workspace data beyond the 30-day window unless we are required to by law. ## changes to these terms We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated to billing owners via an in-Slack notification. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the effective date. Continued use of Zaptipr after that date means you accept the updated terms. ## governing law These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
