## how it works

1. **add zaptipr.** install the zaptipr app in your slack workspace.
2. **link your lightning address.** run `/zapwallet` and paste in any lightning address. zaptipr never holds your bitcoin.
3. **send a /zap.** run `/zap`, pick a teammate, set the amount, and write a shoutout. pay the lightning invoice from your own wallet.
4. **confirm and celebrate.** click "I've paid" to confirm. the shoutout (public) or quiet DM (private) is delivered and your teammate receives real bitcoin in real time.

## questions teams ask

**Does zaptipr ever hold my bitcoin?** No. zaptipr is fully non-custodial. When you send a /zap, the app generates a lightning invoice from your teammate's wallet and you pay it directly from yours. zaptipr never sits between your bitcoin.

**What is a lightning address?** A lightning address looks like an email (you@yourwallet.com) but is a payable bitcoin endpoint. Most modern lightning wallets give you one for free. Paste it into /zapwallet and you are ready.

**Do my teammates need bitcoin to receive a tip?** They just need a lightning wallet with a lightning address. Most take about 60 seconds to set up. /zaphelp will walk anyone through it.

**What is the smallest tip I can send?** The smallest /zap is 0.00 000 100 bitcoin and the largest is 0.01 000 000 bitcoin, both set by the app. A typical tip lands somewhere in between depending on the day's price.

**Is zaptipr a token? Do you take a cut?** No token. No internal points. zaptipr only moves real bitcoin between real wallets. Your only cost is whatever lightning routing fees your wallet pays.

**Where can I send a /zap?** /zap can be run from any public channel or direct message. You choose how the shoutout lands: a public celebration in the channel, or a quiet DM to your teammate. Private channels are locked for now.

**What if my teammate hasn't set up /zapwallet yet?** You'll see a heads-up that their wallet isn't connected. Tap the nudge button and zaptipr DMs them to run /zapwallet. Once they're set up, send the /zap again.

**Why do I have to click 'I've paid'?** Because zaptipr never touches your bitcoin. Lightning payments settle directly between wallets, and for privacy reasons we don't see when they clear. You click 'I've paid' to confirm, and the shoutout (or quiet DM) goes out.
